The Cabinet of Ministers is working on the launch of pilot projects for the use of wooden structures in the resettlement of emergency homes. A special preferential mortgage can contribute to the development of a new type of housing construction in Russia. In this case, houses will become more accessible to citizens with a small income, experts are convinced. Starting next year, developers may be allowed to build massive wooden buildings.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers, by the end of 2021, the volume of commissioning of wooden houses amounted to 10.8 million square meters. m.
The Russian experience is still small — in 2014, 3-, 4-storey houses were built in Torzhok (Tver region) using wooden structures. Last year, the construction of four‑storey houses using CLT panels was completed in the city of Sokol (Vologda region). To implement a pilot project for the mass application of this technology, it is planned to use the experience of the Vologda region. Two more projects for the construction of four-storey apartment buildings are being prepared in the regions: in Baikalsk, Irkutsk region and in the city of Sarov, Nizhny Novgorod region. The cost of construction of facilities on average is from 100 thousand rubles per 1 sq. m. This is comparable to apartments in reinforced concrete houses.
