India needs 213 thousand professionals in the field of development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI). It is stated in a report by the Indian National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom).
The demand for AI professionals has grown as a result of the widespread adoption of relevant technologies in India in industry, trade, healthcare, banking and other industries. As a result, India's needs for AI specialists increased by 22-26%, the authors of the report stated.
According to the consulting company EY India, the use of AI can add a combined $1.2 — 1.5 trillion to India's GDP in seven years and lead to an increase in labor productivity, as well as the development of the national digital economy. It is expected that by 2030, almost 69% of the impact of the introduction of AI will be gained from such sectors as business services (legal, consulting, outsourcing, rental of machinery and equipment), financial services, as well as from the education, retail and healthcare.
The Indian government expects that artificial intelligence technologies and online games will generate up to $300 billion in the country's GDP by 2026-2027, Indian Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar said earlier. The country's authorities plan to reach a GDP level of $ 5 trillion by the 2026-2027 fiscal year, when the share of the digital economy should be about 20% of GDP and the market volume could reach $ 1 trillion.
Investments in India's AI sector are growing by an average of 30.8% annually. India's AI market in 2021 was estimated at $7.8 billion, which was 22% higher than the previous year.
