By April 4, pollock catch in the Far Eastern Basin amounted to 926 thousand tons, which is 107.6 thousand tons or 13% higher than the level of 2022. The main share of catch falls on the Sea of Okhotsk – 786 thousand tons. The catch of Pacific herring increased by 13.5% — up to 137 thousand tons, cod - 4.5% more — 46.3 thousand tons.
Currently, 89 trawling vessels and one floating base are operating in the Sea of Okhotsk in the pollock and herring fishery. Up to five vessels are fishing for bottom fish with by-catch of pollock.
During the reporting period, there were also 2 tankers operating in the Northern Kuriles with the delivery of fish to shore.
The number of vessels in the herring fishery in the North Okhotsk continued to increase: now 41 large-tonnage and 2 medium-tonnage vessels are fishing.
The fleet is working in the fields of young shallow, easily traversable ice. The captains have been warned about the need to increase attention to the ice situation.
On the approach to the ports of Primorsky Krai (the main logistics hub) there are 37 vessels with 57.3 thousand tons of fish products on board, mainly fresh catches of pollock, herring and cod.
On behalf of Rosrybolovstvo, an analysis of the export supplies of pollock and herring to China and the EU countries was carried out, taking into account the need to ensure the domestic market.
There is an increase in the volume and speed of sending fish products from Primorye to other regions of Russia. The average capacity utilization of the fishing ports of Primorsky Krai is 23% compared to 52% in 2022.
