In 2024, the Russian aluminum cookware market may increase to 31.7 thousand tons, which is 3.6 thousand tons more than in 2022. With the almost complete cessation of imports of major European brands, consumers are favoring products made in Russia.

It was possible to make sure of it during the International exhibitions of home and interior goods HouseHold Expo and Stylish Home. Objects & Tableware Autumn 2024, held in Moscow at Expocentre from September 2 to 4.

In 2023, aluminum cookware manufacturers, which are members of the Russian Aluminum Association, accounted for 75% of the market with a volume of 39.7 thousand tons. Another quarter of the market share came from importers, but further growth in imports, primarily from China and Turkey, should not be expected, experts believe. “Russian cookware manufacturers have accustomed consumers to the quality of their products and the buyer is not ready for, albeit smaller, but regular spending when buying similar goods that are inferior in quality to domestic counterparts,” explains Natalia Kudenkova, head of the Consumer Goods sector of the Aluminum Association. According to the expert assessment of NMP JSC, the main trend of buyers' behavior in 2024 is rational consumption. “Many buyers focus their attention on such characteristics of tableware as appearance, quality, safety and long service life,” said Evgenia Lipatova.

According to experts, the share of imported tableware could have been much higher, but two key factors had an impact - the industry, which worked ahead of the curve, and the awareness of buyers. “About 3 years ago, with the support of the Aluminum Association, a major program was carried out to improve the regulatory framework. This allowed us to increase the quality of Russian cookware and significantly reduce the share of foreign suppliers. The result was a whole category of cookware buyers oriented precisely on the country of production, choosing products made in Russia,” says Natalia Kudenkova.

Among the market leaders is the Kukmorsk Metalware Plant from the Republic of Tatarstan. Thanks to the use of the latest modern automatic foundry equipment, the dishes have acquired original complex shapes, and thanks to carefully selected shades of the outer and inner coating immediately stands out among the other assortment of stores.

The growing demand for domestic cookware affects all segments of consumers. Responding to the market demand many of the manufacturers are starting to enter new categories of buyers. For example, despite the fact that the production of induction cookware is considered an expensive technology, as well as the high competition in this segment, domestic manufacturers have expanded their presence in this category as well.
