Last week, Munich became the center of the global automotive market with the annual IAA Mobility 2025 exhibition. The Munich Motor Show is a place where European, Asian, and American car manufacturers showcase their new products and concepts and share their vision of the future of the automotive industry with the world.

Three Aito crossovers from Huawei and Seres

One of the main trends of 2025 is the dominance of Asian brands. They showcased a variety of elegant new products, electric cars, and cutting-edge technologies. The combination of affordable prices and innovation allows Asian brands to claim leadership in the era of electric vehicles.

The Aito brand is the result of a collaboration between Chinese state-owned automaker Seres and electronics manufacturer Huawei. Three Aito crossovers from Huawei and Seres debuted in Munich: the M5, M8, and M9.

The Aito M5 is an entry-level SUV that first appeared on the domestic market in 2022. However, it has undergone many changes since its presentation. It is a mid-size car with a low beltline and a streamlined roof.

The Aito M5 is available in two variations. The first uses a single electric motor on the rear axle with a peak power output of 200 kW (268 hp). It is powered by an 83 kWh CATL lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a range of up to 602 km. The second version has a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine under the hood, which powers a triple nickel-metal hydride battery with a capacity of 42 kWh.

In China, the Aito M5 costs between 229,800 and 249,800 RMB ($32,200 to $35,000).

The Aito M8 is China's best-selling full-size SUV powered by new energy sources. Its version with increased range went on sale in April 2025. The all-electric M8 was released at the end of August. This crossover is designed in the latest corporate style with two headlights connected by an LED strip and hidden door handles.

The car's technological features are impressive. The Aito M8 interior offers two seating options. The first option features two rows of five seats. The second option is a six-seater vehicle with three rows. The M8 has a triple screen on the center console, consisting of a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, a 15.6-inch main screen, and a 16-inch monitor for the front passenger. The Aito M8 also supports an augmented reality projection display with a 68-inch image.

The price of the Aito M8 on the Chinese market ranges from 359,800 to 449,900 RMB ($50,400 to $63,000).

The Aito M9 is the brand's flagship crossover. It features distinctive glove-shaped headlights and taillights. It is also the largest Aito model. The M9 is available in five- and six-seat versions. The M9's center console features a large triple screen. It combines a 12.3-inch LCD instrument panel, a 15.6-inch main screen, and a 16-inch monitor for the front passenger.

In China, the Aito M9 costs between 469,800 and 569,800 RMB (between $65,865 and $79,880).

Avatr Vision Xpectra

The Avatr Vision Xpectra concept car, which looks more like a futuristic spaceship than a car, made its debut at the Munich Motor Show.

Avatr, a subsidiary brand of Chinese automaker Changan, calls its concept car “emotional luxury,” and the media has already dubbed it the “Chinese Rolls-Royce” for its premium design and impressive features. The car is 5.84 meters long, which is longer than the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The upper part of the Avatr's body is almost entirely made of glass, and the interior is equipped with a host of technologies that are controlled by a personal virtual assistant.

However, we should not expect this miracle of automotive engineering and aesthetics to enter mass production in the foreseeable future. For now, it remains only a futuristic concept called Avatr, representing the Chinese brand's bid to enter the premium segment.

BMW iX3

The German automaker chose the IAA to present its new class of fully electric SUV, the iX3. It is distinguished by its medium size, understated and elegant design, and advanced technical equipment. The car's interior features a central touchscreen and a thin, wide display located directly below the windshield.

Among its competitors, the BMW iX3 stands out with its promised range of up to 800 km. Range is usually one of the main problems with electric cars. It seems that the iX3 marks the beginning of a new era of electric vehicles, with which you don't have to worry about running out of charge for a long trip.

Porsche 911 Turbo S

Another legendary German brand, Porsche, has unveiled its new flagship 911 - the Turbo S. This line of sports cars was born back in 1964 and has evolved into a hybrid model. The Turbo S has a record-breaking 711 hp. This is partly thanks to the T-Hybrid hybrid powertrain with two electric turbochargers powered by exhaust gases. The car is also equipped with all-wheel drive and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, which is beyond the capabilities of an electric car.

The creators position the Turbo S as a premium car that is comfortable to drive, whether you are driving it around town or participating in races.

Mercedes-Benz GLC

Mercedes has unveiled a competitor to the BMW iX3: the all-electric Mercedes-Benz GLC. It stands out with its slim body, which is unusual for an SUV, and its neat rear light design.

The interior of the new model is equipped with huge displays, including the latest version of the MBUX hyperscreen, which occupies the entire dashboard. The car's operating system uses a so-called “multi-agent” approach, which combines the best artificial intelligence developments from Google and Microsoft. Mercedes claims that for the customer, communicating with the MBUX virtual assistant is like communicating with a friend: it can give detailed answers and respond to follow-up questions without the need to explain the context.

Polestar 5

Swedish company Polestar has unveiled the fifth generation of its popular cars, already named the brand's most premium electric vehicle - the Polestar 5.

It is based on the 2020 Polestar Precept concept car. The Polestar 5 is expected to be available in two versions: a dual-motor version with a range of about 640 km, and a high-speed version with a range of 550 km. The Polestar 5 is the size of a limousine, with a length of approximately 5 meters.

The price of the twin-motor version of the Polestar 5 starts at €119,900, while the high-speed version starts at €142,900.

Renault Clio

Among French automakers, Renault stands out this year with its sixth-generation Clio hatchback. Many were attracted by the more aggressive design of this small car. It has a hybrid powertrain but remains compact, lightweight, and economical.

The base version of the new Clio has a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine with 115 hp, while the more advanced version, called Eco-G, has a turbocharged engine with up to 120 hp.

The Clio will go on sale in 2025. Its price is expected to be just under €20,000, making it more affordable than its competitors.
