Zambia
Zambia's main industry is the copper industry. Refined copper exports are growing mainly due to the demand for it from China. In addition to copper, zinc, cobalt, gold, silver, marble, selenium are mined in the country. The manufacturing industry is represented by the processing of agricultural raw materials, the production of paper and the assembly of cars in Ndola.
Total energy reserves are estimated at 0.008 billion tons (in coal equivalent). Installed capacity — net of power plants — 2981 MW, including: thermal power plants burning organic fuel — 16.6%, renewable energy sources — 83.4%.
Agriculture employs 85% of the able-bodied population, it provides 4.3% of GDP. It is mainly focused on domestic consumption. The main agricultural crops are millet, corn, cassava, sorghum, rice, wheat, peanuts, sugar cane. Agricultural productivity is extremely low due to the low level of mechanization and the use of primitive means of cultivating the land. Animal husbandry is poorly developed due to the spread of tsetse flies.
