82% of the able-bodied population works in agriculture, it provides about 44% of GDP (2015). The main agricultural crops are cashews, peanuts, rice, corn, cassava.

Fishing plays a significant role in the country's economy. In 2018, with the support of the World Food Organization, a fish farming program was launched, in particular the production of tilapia.

Industry employs 18% of the working-age population, it provides about 13% of GDP. There are several small food enterprises, a brewery, a woodworking plant, a plastic packaging factory.

Electricity production of 20.8 million kWh (2000).
