Gabon
Gabon is an agrarian state. Oil fields and foreign investment have helped make Gabon one of the most stable states in Africa and the fifth largest GDP per capita (PPP) in Africa.
Agriculture employs 60% of the working-age population, but it provides less than 4% of GDP. Only a small part of the land suitable for agriculture is cultivated, about half of the country's food imports. The main food crops are yams (155 thousand tons), cassava (230 thousand tons), bananas (12 thousand tons), sugar cane (235 thousand tons), corn (31 thousand tons), vegetables (35 thousand tons) and fruits (10.3 thousand tons). Cash crops are grown in small quantities — cocoa (600 tons), oil palm, natural rubber (11 thousand tons) and coffee.
Industry employs 15% of the working-age population, it gives 39.1% of GDP. The main industry is the oil industry. There are large reserves of iron, manganese and uranium ores.
