Bulgaria is an industrial and agrarian state. A country with a developed agriculture, whose economy operates on the principles of a free market, having a large private sector and a smaller public one.

The main sectors of the economy are energy, mining, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, agriculture and tourism. The main industrial exports are clothing, iron and steel, machinery and fuel.

Agricultural products: vegetables, fruits, tobacco, wool, wine, wheat, barley, sunflower, sugar beet.

The share of industry in the country's GDP is 30.2%.

The main trading partners for exports are Germany 13.5%, Italy 8.3%, Romania 8.2%, Turkey 7.7%, Greece 6.5%; for imports — Germany 12.3%, Italy 7.3%, Romania 7.1%, Turkey 6.2%, Spain 5.3%. Exports are dominated by textile and food products, steel, iron ore, machinery and equipment, wine, tobacco and tobacco products; imports — mechanical engineering products, non-ferrous metals and alloys, chemicals, oil and other raw materials.
