Andorra
Andorra is a developed small European state. Taxes on financial institutions, heating and imports make up the majority of government revenue. There is practically no unemployment.
80% of the country's GDP is provided by the tourism industry. According to estimates, Andorra is visited by up to 9 million tourists annually. However, most foreigners come to Andorra for one day from neighboring France and Spain to make profitable purchases, taking advantage of lower prices.
The development of tourism attracted foreign investments to Andorra and contributed to the expansion of construction and an increase in land prices. The state takes minimal part in the management of the economy, and private entrepreneurship is almost unlimited. An important role in the economy is played by the banking sector, which uses the existing tax benefits in the country.
There are reserves of iron ore, lead, hydropower resources, mineral water and forests. However, iron and lead deposits are poorly developed due to transport problems. Most of the electricity is imported from neighboring France and Spain. Iron and lead ores and marble are mined in some places. The country's industry manufactures tobacco, wool, and handicrafts, furniture. In total, up to 21% of workers are employed in industry (78% in the service sector).
Production of organic fuel - 13 thousand here. Installed capacity – net of power plants - 53 MW, including: thermal power plants burning organic fuel - 9.4%, renewable energy sources (RES) - 90.6%. Final electricity consumption - 490 GWh, of which: industry - 3.5%, household consumers - 25.3%, commercial sector and enterprises general use - 71.2%.
The development of agriculture in Andorra is limited by the fact that only 2% of the land is suitable for cultivation. Less than 1% of the population is employed in this industry. Potatoes and tobacco are grown (20% of agricultural land is occupied by them), barley and rye are grown in small quantities. Most of the food has to be imported. Animal husbandry has traditionally been developed in the country. Sheep (the main source of wool), goats and cattle are bred.
Foreign trade is focused on EU countries. Exports from Andorra are mainly tobacco and accessories. Imported mainly consumer goods, food, electricity, etc. 48% of imports accounted for Spain, 35% — France.
Andorra has no airports or railways. There is only road transport.
